The defending NFL Europe League champion Berlin Thunder improved to 2-0 on the young season, earning a thrilling 15-13 win over the Hamburg Sea Devils on Sunday in one of the weekend highlights of Week 2 NFLEL action.

Trailing 13-12 late in the fourth quarter, Houston Texans quarterback DAVE RAGONE drove the hometown Thunder 48 yards in 12 plays, setting up Seattle Seahawks kicker KEVIN MILLER’s game-winning 37-yard field goal with 2:00 minutes remaining. Indianapolis Colts cornerback JERMAINE MAYS sealed the victory with an interception at the Berlin 30-yard line on Hamburg’s final possession.

Ragone completed 17 of 28 attempts for 168 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the win, while New York Jets wide receiver TERRENCE STUBBS led the team with six receptions for 66 yards.

"I think we learned a lot about ourselves today," Ragone said. "We were down one point with six minutes to go and this team had never been in that situation before. I didn’t know how we would respond, but I’m so proud of the way we played at the end of the game. We need to execute better to continue to win, but we are 2-0 and that is where we want to be right now."

Meanwhile in Düsseldorf, Germany on Sunday, the Cologne Centurions also improved to a perfect 2-0, earning a 23-10 road win over the Rhein Fire before an enthusiastic crowd of 25,304 at the new LTU Arena.

Buffalo Bills quarterback KEVIN THOMPSON rushed for touchdowns of three and one yards and added 95 yards passing in the win. New England Patriots running back KORY CHAPMAN led all rushers with 83 yards on 17 carries while San Diego Chargers wideout CARL MORRIS added a game-high seven receptions for 81 yards.

On Saturday in Frankfurt, Germany, the hometown Galaxy earned an exciting 23-14 win over the Amsterdam Admirals before an enthusiastic crowd of 31,644 at the Commerzbank Arena, erasing a 14-point deficit en route to the victory.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback AKILI SMITH helped start the comeback with both his arm and his legs. With Frankfurt trailing 14-0 in the second quarter, Smith led the Galaxy on a 12-play, 99-yard touchdown drive, drawing Frankfurt to within seven with 4:11 remaining in the second quarter. Smith completed four of four pass attempts for 56 yards on the march, including a pair of third-and-long conversions. The quarterback capped the drive with an eight-yard touchdown run.

"One of the turning points was Akili making that play to score our first touchdown," said Frankfurt head coach MIKE JONES. "I felt that if we could score in that situation then our players could make things happen."

Smith posted a 97.6 rating on the day, completing nine of 12 attempts for 95 yards. San Diego Chargers running back AHMAAD GALLOWAY led the Galaxy ground game, rushing for 161 yards on 33 carries, including an eight-yard touchdown run.
