Dilfer Signs
Trent Dilfer
Trent Dilfer

Posted Mar 5, 2002

Season tickets were flying off the shelf last weekend after it was announced that Trent Dilfer re-signed with the Seattle Seahawks. ..

Part of the four-year $8 million deal also hands over starting duties to Dilfer, who head coach Mike Holmgren admitted had outplayed Matt Hasselbeck last season.
Suddenly the future appears bright for the Seahawks, who head into the 2002 season with a new logo to go with their new stadium and now their new starting quarterback who will lead them in a new division, the NFC West.
Dilfer's incentive-laden contract gives him the chance to make up to $18 million in incentives if he does two things: First, he must guide the Seahawks to a 10-6 or better season in 2002 and average an 85.0 or better passer rating. If he does this, the escalators kick in and he makes close to $4.5 million in each of the final three years of his contract.
