Seattle shuts out Oakland at Qwest Field
Six players posted sacks and they were led by backup DT Craig Terrill's three sacks in the first half.
On offense, Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace was, among other things, very efficient as he completed 18 of 30 passes for 186 yards and one touchdown. More importantly, he kept plays alive with his legs – 49 yards rushing on three attempts – and stayed away from the turnover bug that had been his problem the past two weeks.
After Oakland's initial drive ended with a three-and-out, Seattle's offense drove 60 yards in six plays and ended with Wallace hitting WR Deion Branch with a beautifully executed 22-yard touchdown pass.
K Josh Brown added two short field goals – one from 20 and one from 25 – to give Seattle a 13-0 lead as the teams headed into the locker room at halftime.
Seattle's offense in the second half was unable to move the ball much on the relatively stingy Raiders defense, but did manage to roll up 207 yards on the ground, including a career-high 138 yards for RB Maurice Morris, as they were able to hold onto the ball for more than 35 minutes.
Raiders QB Andrew Walter was harrassed all night and ended up completing 16 of 35 passes for 166 yards while RB Lamont Jordan found some running room in the second half and finished with 63 yards on nine carries.
Oakland became the first team in Monday Night Football history to be shut out twice in the same season as they were also shut out by the San Diego Chargers in week one 27-0.
Seattle now will prepare to face the 4-4 St. Louis Rams at Qwest next weekend to decide who will have the inside track to winning the NFC West. Seattle won the earlier meeting between the two teams as Brown hit a 51-yard field goal as time expired, giving the Seahawks a huge 30-28 victory.
