The Seattle Seahawks sign veteran long-snapper Bryan Pittman, a Tacoma native and University of Washington alum.

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with veteran long-snapper Bryan Pittman on a one-year deal.

Pittman, 32, joins the Seahawks after six seasons with the Houston Texans. His tenure in Houston ended with a four-game suspension at the end of 2008 for violating the NFL's steroid policy.

Prior to his suspension, Pittman had played in 92 consecutive games for the Texans. He had a streak of 598 successful snaps broken in 2007, a streak that began in 2003, his first season in the NFL.

Though he's expected to compete with Ryan Senser in training camp, Pittman gives the Seahawks a reliable, veteran presence at a position that's been a revolving door since Jean-Phillipe Darche suffered a hip injury during the 2006 season opener.

Brian McIntyre lives in the Boston area. In addition to writing for NorthwestFootball.net, Brian maintains his own blog (www.macsfootballblog.com), writes for FalconInsider.com, and charts games for Football Outsiders. If you’d like to e-mail Brian, you may do so here.
