Seahawks to Sign C Cory Withrow

The Seattle Seahawks will sign veteran center/guard Cory Withrow on Friday.

Earlier this week, Adam Caplan of Scout.com reported that the Seahawks had worked out veteran offensive linemen Cory Withrow and Grey Ruegamer.

Tonight, Withrow's agent, David Canter, announced that Withrow would be signing a one-year deal with the Seahawks on Friday.

With questions surrounding Mike Wahle's recovery from off-season shoulder surgery, and center Chris Spencer (back) and Rob Sims (pectoral muscle) both coming off injuries, Withrow provides veteran depth at the center and guard position.

The Spokane, Washington native and Washington State alum is entering his 11th season in the NFL after entering the league as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Vikings in 1999.

Withrow started 13 games over seven seasons with the Vikings before signing a three-year deal with the San Diego Chargers after the 2005 season. Primarily a back-up, Withrow started four games for an injured Nick Hardwick in 2007. He was released by the Chargers after injuring his hamstring in their 2008 preseason finale.

Withrow signed with the St. Louis Rams late last season, appearing in one game.
