Here’s a look at the number of offensive and defensive snaps each Seattle Seahawks player was in on during the 2009 season-opener against St. Louis. These snap counts do not include special teams plays, as broadcast limitations make charting those plays difficult.

The personnel groupings above do not represent formations. If 35-O.Schmitt is lined up as a wide receiver, as he was on John Carlson's 33-yard touchdown, he was counted as a running back because that is the position he plays.

Special teams plays were not included in the above totals, but it is worth noting that the following starters on defense remained on the field for the Rams’ third punt of the day: Josh Wilson, Ken Lucas, Jordan Babineaux, Will Herring (had subbed for Leroy Hill by this point), Corey Redding, Colin Cole, Brandon Mebane, Darryl Tapp, Aaron Curry, and Lofa Tatupu. St. Louis had the ball on the Seahawks’ 35-yard line, so Seattle may have been bracing for a fake. Justin Forsett was back deep for Seattle.
Lawrence Jackson/Corey Redding
Redding was in for 31 plays, while Jackson logged 25 snaps. Both players took snaps at both tackle and end. Here’s the breakdown:

Kerney the Right Defensive End
Much was made of Patrick Kerney playing right defensive end this season, and in base defense, that’s exactly where he lined up. Whenever Seattle went nickel or with their 3-3-5 look, if Kerney was in the game, he moved over to the left side. Of Kerney's 38 snaps, 20 were at right defensive end, 18 were at left defensive end.
