Hill Out For Several Weeks

Starting outside linebacker Leroy Hill, who suffered a groin strain in the first quarter against the Rams, will be out longer than expected.

Head coach Jim Mora said after further evaluation that Hill's groin injury is more significant than initially thought, and he will miss the next five games. Hill could be ready after Seattle's bye week on Oct. 25. That means Hill will be available at the earliest for Seattle's Nov. 1 trip to Dallas.

Mora said Hill injured his groin during the first part of Sunday's game when he got a wide base and was pulled into an awkward position. Mora said the injury could be a possible tear and that Hill could potentially need surgery.

"That's a blow, but fortunately we have some good players that can fill in for him both on defense and special teams," Mora said. "We'll look for those guys to step in and we'll keep going. It's disappointing for Leroy and it's certainly disappointing for this team."

Will Herring, a third-year player who has been mostly a special teams player up to this point, will fill in at weakside outside linebacker for Hill.
