Team Commentary

1
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS Nawlins didn't panic when things didn't go their way in the first half last week, they continued to run the ball, made a great halftime adjustment on defense, and earned a big comeback win.
2
2
DENVER BRONCOS Undefeated Denver comes off of the bye as the NFL's big surprise of 2009.
3
3
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS The Colts appear to be firing on all cylinders.  Then again, they were playing St. Louis so it's hard to tell.
4
7
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS New England has soundly thumped two winless teams over the last two weeks.  It remains to be seen if they are back in the groove or just bottom-feeding.
5
8
PITTSBURGH STEELERS Maybe the Steelers should put some of their defensive linemen on special teams, because they sure know how to block downfield on returns.
6
9
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES So you're up by 10 points in the fourth quarter and you're passing??  Andy Reid calls games like a 14 year old playing Madden.  Why not just go for it and start calling flea-flickers?
7
4
MINNESOTA VIKINGS From last week's rankings "[Minnesota's] inability to put teams away in the second half will come back to haunt them."
8
5
NEW YORK GIANTS If the Giants players could have hung onto the ball on Sunday, they'd be 6-1 today.
9
11
CINCINNATI BENGALS The addition of Cedric Benson has made Cincinnati's offense scary good.
10
10
BALTIMORE RAVENS The Ravens desperately needed the bye last week after losing three straight.  They'll try to right the ship against the 6-0 Broncos.
11
6
ATLANTA FALCONS Atlanta looked overmatched last weekend in Dallas.  Things aren't going to get any easier this week vs. the Saints.
12
14
ARIZONA CARDINALS The Cardinals have won three straight on the road and have reclaimed the lead in the NFC West.
13
13
GREEN BAY PACKERS Green Bay is throttling the bad teams but has yet to emerge as a legit contender.  This weekend's game vs. Minnesota should answer a lot of questions.
14
16
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS Just like the Packers, the Chargers are making short work of the bad teams but seem incapable of making the step up to the elite teams.
15
18
MIAMI DOLPHINS Miami has given both Indianapolis and New Orleans, two of the three remaining undefeated teams, all they could handle.  The Fish are on the rise, for sure.
16
17
NEW YORK JETS The Jets have rushed for 634 yards over the last two games.
17
19
HOUSTON TEXANS Usually the Texans alternate between good and bad from week to week.  Last weekend, they switched at the half.  Fortunately for them, they were able to hang on for the win.
18
12
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS Alex Smith 2.0 looked pretty good last week in Houston, but how will he fare after a team has spent a week preparing to face him?
19
20
DALLAS COWBOYS The Cowboys put together their first solid game against a quality opponent last week and they host the wildly inconsistent Seahawks this week.
20
15
CHICAGO BEARS Matt Forte and the Bears rushing game have to be the biggest disappointment this season.
21
21
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS Jacksonville looks to break .500 against the disappointing Titans this weekend.
22
23
BUFFALO BILLS The Bills were outgained by hundreds of yards, but they won the turnover battle 4-0 and that was the difference in the game.  Jarius Byrd has 5 interceptions in his last 3 games.
23
22
CAROLINA PANTHERS Perhaps John Fox is coming the realization that most fans came to in Week 3 … Jake Delhomme is done.
24
24
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS The Seahawks are hoping that the return of key players during the bye week will bring them back to respectability.  The loss of Walter Jones for the year however, cannot be overestimated.
25
25
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS To paraphrase Bull Durham: "Larry, what's our record?"  "1-5."  "1-5.  How the hell did we ever win one?"  "It's a miracle."
26
27
DETROIT LIONS The Lions actually moved up the charts on a bye week, which ought to tell you how God-awful the nether regions of the NFL are this year.
27
28
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS The Bucs have shown some signs of life on both sides of the ball, but they are just woefully undermanned.
28
26
OAKLAND RAIDERS How would you like to have to choose between Russell and Gradkowski?
29
29
TENNESSEE TITANS Tennessee's gone from playoff shoo-in to laughing stock in 6 short week.  I'm not sure a bye week will help.
30
32
WASHINGTON REDSKINS The Redskins have at Top 10 Defense.  Tell me again about how "Defense Wins Championships"?
31
30
CLEVELAND BROWNS Derek Anderson has a lower quarterback rating than Jamarcus Russell.  I didn't think that was actually possible.
32
31
ST. LOUIS RAMS 0-17 and counting.  There's still a long way to go to reach the 0-26 streak of the 1976-1977 Bucs, but I wouldn't count this team out.
