Seattle Seahawks restricted free agent wide receiver Ben Obomanu has signed his one-year tender, a league source said.
Obomanu, a seventh-round pick (249th overall) out of Auburn in 2006, spent most of his rookie season on the team's practice squad, and missed the entire 2008 season after breaking his collarbone in that year's pre-season finale.
In 27 games with Seattle, Obomanu (6-0, 207) has 16 receptions for 221 yards and a touchdown, and last season averaged 26.6 yards on 11 kick returns. Obomanu has also made 15 special teams tackles, with his 12 from last season ranking second on the team, behind only current New York Jets linebacker Lance Laury.
Obomanu was tendered at the "Original Round" level, and with three accrued seasons (2007-09), would earn a base salary of $1.101 million dollars in 2010.
Earlier this week, Obomanu was named to Auburn's All-Decade team, along with current and former Seahawks teammates Courtney Taylor and Will Herring.
With Obomanu signed, center Chris Spencer is the lone Seahawks restricted free agent who has not yet signed his one-year tender. The former first-round pick is participating in the team's pre-draft mini-camp, though, so he has signed an "injury waiver". With today being the final day Spencer can sign an offer sheet with another club, he is likely to sign the tender at some point in the near future.
