Free agent safety O.J. Atogwe will make a free agent visit to the Seattle Seahawks next week

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports free agent safety O.J. Atogwe will pay a visit to the Seattle Seahawks next week.

After playing the 2009 season under the one-year franchise tag, Atogwe was not eligible for unrestricted free agency this off-season. The Rams placed the lowest possible tender on Atogwe, granting them the right of first refusal for any long-term contract offer Atogwe received.

In order to retain Atogwe's rights, the Rams needed to increase the amount of the one-year tender to $6.976 million dollars--110% Atogwe's 2009 salary--by June 1, which the Rams opted not to do, granting the former Stanford standout free agency.

A third-round pick (66th overall) by the Rams in 2005, Atogwe (5-11, 210) started 60 straight games before injuring his shoulder late last season. In 72 games overall, Atogwe has 317 tackles, 3 quarterback sacks, and 19 interceptions, with 29 pass break-ups and 14 forced fumbles.

The Seahawks are the first team to actively express an interest in Atogwe, who many felt is likely going to re-sign with the Rams.

Speaking of the St. Louis-to-Seattle pipeline, Adam Caplan of Scout.com reports the Seahawks have claimed cornerback Cord Parks off waiversfrom the Rams.

Parks was waived by the Rams on Tuesday.

Parks signed with the Rams in 2009 as an undrafted free agent out of Northeastern. The 5-10, 178-pound did not post any defensive statistics during pre-season action with the Rams, but averaged 22.7 yards on six kick returns, and 12.5 yards on two punt returns. Parks was part of the Rams' final cut down to 53 players, but was re-signed to the practice squad.

Added to the active roster in Week 16, Parks posted a special teams tackle in two games.

Seattle had an open spot on their off-season roster.
