The Seattle Seahawks have reached agreement on a four-year deal with fourth-round cornerback Walter Thurmond

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports the Seattle Seahawks have reached agreement on a contract with fourth-round cornerback Walter Thurmond.

Financial terms of the four-year deal were not disclosed.

The 5-11, 189-pound cornerback from the University of Oregon was chosen with the 111th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, a pick acquired from the Tennessee Titans after the Seahawks agreed to trade down in rounds four and six in exchange for running back LenDale White and defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson.

Tennessee chose UCLA cornerback Alterraun Verner with Seattle’s fourth-round pick, and White was subsequently released.

Thurmond entered his senior season with a second-round draft grade, and the potential to sneak into the first round, but three torn knee ligaments on the opening kickoff of the Cal game ended his season, college career, and did untold damage to his draft stock.

In 41 career games at Oregon, Thurmond totaled 254 tackles, including 12.5 for a loss, and 1.5 quarterback sacks. Thurmond intercepted 12 passes, which he returned for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns. Thurmond added another touchdown on a fumble return.

As a return specialist, Thurmond averaged 25.8 yards on 33 kick returns, with a long of 91 yards during his junior season. In his first action as a punt returner last fall, Thurmond averaged 15 yards on 11 returns, returning one punt 78 yards for a touchdown.

Thurmond was an honorable mention All-Pac 10 selection after his redshirt freshman and sophomore seasons.

Coming off knee surgery, Thurmond was not able to work out for scouts leading up to the 2010 NFL Draft, but he is expected to be ready for the start of training camp, where he’ll likely compete for the team’s nickel cornerback job with Kelly Jennings, Roy Lewis, and safety Jordan Babineaux.

For the first time this off-season, Thurmond participated in individual drills during the Seahawks' "Organized Team Activity" sessions on Thursday.
