| Biography: |
2004: Alex Bannister’s 2004 season was a disappointment after his first Pro Bowl selection in 2003. Bannister was on his way to another excellent season when he broke his right collarbone (clavicle) against the Carolina Panthers on October 31, 2004. The injury ended his season. During a voluntary passing camp in June of 2005, Bannister broke the same collarbone again, putting him out of action until after the team's training camp in late July/early August. His return to health will be a key component of a special teams unit that must improve.
2003: Earned first trip to Pro Bowl as a special teamer. Led Seahawks with 18 special-teams tackles and was one of the best in the NFL at downing punts inside the 20, helping Tom Rouen to 29 inside the 20. Helped the Seahawks lead the NFL in lowest punt return average, holding opponents to 4.8 yards/return. Bannister made two starts at receiver and totaled three catches for 61 yards and a touchdown.
2002: Played in all 16 games with one start for Seattle. Finished second on the team with 13 special teams tackles and had one fumble recovery. Made first-career start at Oakland when the team opened in a four-receiver set.
2001: Saw action in all 16 games as a rookie, including 13 at receiver. A consistent performer on special teams, finished fourth on the team in that category with 11 tackles. Caught four passes on the season for 50 yards. |
