Biography:

2005: Wortham was drafted by the Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2005 draft (235th overall).

College Career: Wortham made a successful return to the gridiron in 2004 after missing the 2003 campaign with an elbow injury. An active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Wortham is heavily involved in community projects, including the Junior Peace Corps and even plays the steel guitar at his church. He used his time away from the game in 2003 to complete work on his degree, having graduated in May 2004. Wortham set the linebacker record in the bench press during the Night of Champions when he handled 480 pounds in 2004. His mark was one of nine lifting records set that night.

Wortham was an all-state linebacker at Calhoun City (Miss.) High School, where he was also very active with the Beta Club and FFA. He recorded 115 tackles with six sacks, 24 stops for losses and two interceptions and rushed for 525 yards and eight touchdowns as a tailback during his senior year. As a junior, Wortham had over 100 tackles, including 20 for loss. He also had three interceptions, three sacks and three caused fumbles, picking up Dandy Dozen honors from the Jackson Clarion Ledger and was also an Atlanta Journal-Constitution Southern 100 selection.

Wortham contributed mostly on special teams as a true freshman at Alabama in 2000, making 14 tackles (9 solos) with two stops for losses. He started the final eight games of the 2001 campaign at strongside outside linebacker, finishing fourth on the team with 56 tackles (30 solos), including a sack and 3½ stops behind the line of scrimmage. He started 10 more times on the strongside in 2002, producing 95 tackles (52 solos) with a sack, four stops for losses and five pressures.

The 2003 season was a frustrating one for Wortham, as a dislocated left elbow late in fall camp would keep him on the sidelines for the entire year. When he returned to the field in 2004, Wortham was shifted to middle linebacker. He struggled with his new assignment earlier in the year, totaling only 12 tackles in the first three games. As he became more comfortable with playing in the middle, his production increased. Wortham would go on to lead the team with a career-high 99 tackles (39 solos), including a sack, three stops for losses, three pass deflections and an interception.

In 47 games for the Crimson Tide, Wortham registered 264 tackles (130 solos) with three sacks for minus-16 yards, 12½ stops for losses of 37 yards, 12 quarterback pressures, a fumble recovery, an interception and six pass deflections.
