Reggie Williams to Participate in 'Hawks Camp

Former University of Washington and Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Reggie Williams will participate in Seahawks mini-camp next week.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Reggie Williams will participate in the Seattle Seahawks' mini-camp next week, Williams' agent, Doug Hendrickson of Octagon Football, has confirmed to NorthwestFootball.net.

Williams (6-4, 212) has not signed a contract with the Seahawks, but is participating in the mini-camp with the hope of impressing the Seahawks enough to where they'll sign him to a deal and bring him to their 2010 training camp.

The ninth overall pick of the 2004 NFL Draft out of the University of Washington, Williams caught 189 passes for 2,322 yards and 18 touchdowns in 79 games over his five seasons with the Jaguars. Williams never developed into the big-time receiving threat the Jaguars hoped he would be, and that, along with some off-field issues, led to the Jaguars' decision not to re-sign him when his rookie contract expired after the 2008 season.

Williams was arrested for DWI and possession of marijuana in February of 2009, charges which were later dropped. While , Williams was tasered and after becoming combative at a Houston-area nightclub, and Houston police discovered a small bag of cocaine in his pocket, leading to felony drug possession charges.

Williams plead guilty to those charges last May, and was sentenced to 2 years probation, 120 hours of community service, and was fined $200.

Williams was not in an NFL training camp in 2009, and last played in an NFL game on December 28, 2008, when he caught a pair of passes for 16 yards in a 27-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
